The Summer Skirt Trends Fashion People Are Wearing on Repeat

Street style tested, editor-approved.

It’s never been a better time to be—or become—a skirt person. The garment was a recurring theme throughout the spring/summer 2026 collections, which offered versions for all sensibilities. Like a statement? Look to the full, fluffy, and feathered ball gown silhouettes at Chanel. Prefer something more structured? Try a crisp suiting skirt à la Dior. And if your vibe leans arty? A mixed media number in the spirit of Prada is just the thing for your closet.

All this said, the runway is a world unto itself, and the skirt trends from last September’s shows look totally different in real life. Each one is a blank slate from which a woman can build out a look that reflects her unique taste.

Find the best options for your wardrobe ahead, where I’ve compiled seven street style looks centered on the buzziest mini, midi, and maxi trends of the season. Keep scrolling for tips on how to style each one, and a shoppable edit of each key silhouette.

Tailored

Spotted on some of the industry’s most influential catwalks (including Schiaparelli, Proenza Schouler, and Versace), the classic skirt suit has never felt fresher…or more fun. Rather than sticking to a more conservative vibe, fashion girls are contrasting the clean-lined look with more playful accessories, like Mary Janes, skinny oval sunglasses, and quilted leather handbags.

Drop-Waists

Into the drop-waist dress trend? You’re going to love the wave of drop-waist skirts entering the style sphere. Championed by designers like Tory Burch, the design is equal parts ladylike and downtown cool; you could easily imagine your chicest friend (which could be you!) throwing one on with a cropped T-shirt and kitten heel thongs for a boozy Saturday brunch.

If you’re looking for a more polished take on the piece, however, take cues from the outfit above. The addition of a slouchy knit, layered necklaces, and streamlined heels instantly creates a combination you could wear both to work and to a scene-y cocktail bar after you get off.

High Texture

Mega-texture was a defining motif at historic houses like Chanel (via full, feathery maxis) and Loewe (think midis with a sassy cha-cha fringe). And while the bold look might seem intimidating at first, it’s quite wearable when you keep the rest of your style simple. Follow the blueprint of this outfit, which counters a tassel-trimmed skirt with a snuggly knit and black ankle boots. The finished product is memorable without being too over-the-top.

Sheer

See-through clothes have been floating around the zeitgeist for several years now, and the sheer skirt remains ineffably relevant. This is in no small part thanks to labels like Fendi and Acne Studios, who showcased the enduring style in peek-a-boo lace and gauzy silk. Recreating the effect all comes down to the right undergarments: Invest in a sleek pair of hot pants and bralette pretty enough to put on display, and there’s no transparent garment you can’t pull off.

Leather

A luxe leather skirt is always a smart investment, but Hermès made a particularly strong case for one with neutral, calf-length silhouettes set against tailored tops and jackets. This outfit remixes the look further by way of a floaty silk blouse (or a crisp white button-down), a cropped bomber, and loafers. It’s the ideal transitional look, as you can ditch the outerwear when it warms up—or trade the flats for boots in cooler weather.

Flouncy Minis

The short and bouncy ruffled mini—as seen at Dior and Isabel Marant—is picking up where the bubble skirt left off last season. In short, it’s just the thing to wear when you want a fresh way to look free-spirited and flirty. While the design definitely works well with more low-key pieces, like a white T-shirt and slide sandals, it’s also something you can dress up with a pair of glitzy heels.

Slip Skirts

The latest in lingerie dressing: A lace-trimmed skirt coupled with something structured. Prada championed the look with mixed-panel midis, bralettes, and long coats. If you’re seeking something more covered up, try a negligee-inspired skirt with a sporty jacket in the same color family. The pairing would go well with sneakers or ballet flats, of course, but I prefer the unexpected addition of ladylike heels.
