Every bride enjoys being the centre of attention on her wedding day! One common wish is to look and feel the best in that moment. Months of work can go into trying to find the best outfits, accessories and decor ideas to ensure everything is in place. But just one skincare mistake a few days before the D-day can lead to a spoiler on the face! Yes, if you are thinking of trying out different diets and skincare ingredients and creams just a week before your wedding, it may not be the wisest thing. So, here are some pre-wedding diet and skincare tips.

Young brides today want to maintain the perfect figure to flaunt and desire a golden glow on the skin. In that pursuit, some pre-wedding diet and skincare changes must definitely be avoided in the run-up to your wedding day. Brides to be should also focus on healthy pre-wedding lifestyle tips.

Celebrity dermatologist Dr Batul Patel, founder and medical director of The Bombay Skin Clinic, tells about these changes to avoid.

5 pre-wedding diet changes to avoid

1. Juice cleanses

Juice cleanses are technically very low in calories. Therefore, indulging in such a diet can actually drain you out and make you irritable.

2. Skipping meals

It is never advisable to starve yourself all day long just to lose weight or look slimmer. Losing weight is a gradual process that takes months.

3. Following fad diets

We all find the need to restrict ourselves to fad diets that we see on social media or the internet to lose those last few stubborn pounds. However, these diets are not nourishing to the body and deprive you of adequate energy.

4. Trying new food

Experimenting with new foods in the days leading up to your wedding is absolutely forbidden. You may end up with an upset tummy or an allergic reaction.

5. Cutting out carbohydrates or fats from your diet

This may be done as a desperate weight-loss measure. Instead, you must eat moderate portions of complex carbs and moderate amounts of healthy fats.

5 pre-wedding skincare changes to avoid

1. Trying new treatments

There are many treatments such chemical peels, micro-needling and others, which one may be tempted to try before the wedding in order to get rid of pigmentation or acne scars. However, everyone’s skin reacts differently. Undergoing these treatments is not advisable as it is difficult to predict the recovery time. Instead, one should consult with a dermatologist who can recommend a treatment that would be suited as per the timeline and still give your skin the flawless glow you seek.

2. Changing your skincare routine

As a part of your pre-wedding skincare routine, you might be tempted to try new skin care products. Women do that as a number of concerns may pop up due to the stress and constant hustle to work out the arrangements. However, you can never know how your skin may react to those new products. Therefore, it is better to avoid such changes.

3. Over-exfoliating the skin

While exfoliation is recommended to get rid of the dirt and other bacteria that may settle on your skin, exfoliating your skin too often can do more harm than good.

4. Not using sunscreen

Forgetting to use sunscreen can cause your skin to tan, or even burn if you are out in the sun for too long. Hence, using a sunscreen with Sun Protection Factor of at least 30 is a must.

5. Squeezing your pimples

Popping your pimples can leave behind some dreadful marks. Hence, resist the urge to pop your pimples and let them heal on their own.
