How to Waterproof Makeup in Monsoons

From primer to lip liner, read the tricks to make your regular makeup water-resistant.

Our biggest concern in the monsoons is how to prevent the makeup from washing off in the rain. However, the right choice would be to invest in water-resistant and smudge-free cosmetics, but they are more expensive than the regular ones. Here are a few tips that will help you waterproof your regular makeup during monsoon.

Create A Smooth Base With Primer

A primer fills in the pores and makes your skin a smooth gliding surface for the makeup to stay. It also helps the foundation last longer than if you apply a direct of it on your face. It will also prevent the foundation from becoming patchy during monsoon.

Setting Spray Is Your Go-To Product

Setting spray is the most important part of your makeup bag, especially during monsoon. Hold the spray at least 15cm away from your face, close your eyes and spray it on each side and centre. It will prevent the makeup from smudging during rains.

Use A Damp Sponge To Apply Foundation

If your foundation is not waterproof, you must use a damp sponge to achieve full coverage. It will help with smoother application and allow the product to settle on your skin. Since you have already applied the foundation with water in the sponge, it will prevent smudging during rain.

Add Petroleum Jelly On Eyebrows

If you thicken or shape your eyebrows with a beauty product while doing your makeup, you must not forget to add petroleum jelly as a base. Vaseline will also work in its place. It will prevent the product from slipping off from brows during monsoon.

Add Liner To Your Lips

Apart from lining the lips and cupid’s bow with a lip liner, you must also add it to the tubercles and remaining areas of the upper and lower lips. It will create a base resistant to water and will help the lipstick stay longer than ever. Moreover, this trick will help you achieve intense colour on your lips.

Use Cream-Based Products

Cream-based blush, contour and highlighter stay longer against water than powdered products. They have intense pigmentation that offers full coverage. They remain smudge-proof during monsoon.

Dust With A Layer Of Mattifying Powder

Along with primer, the mattifying powder will bullet-proof your makeup against rain. Once you have created a smooth base, dust your face with powder. It will absorb the moisture and prevent the foundation from becoming patchy during monsoon. It will also even out the skin tone and add a finishing touch.

Layer The Liner

Once you have applied the liquid liner, you can make it waterproof by applying a thin layer of cream eyeshadow over it. You can also use a gel liner that doesn’t smudge with a splash of water.
